About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Brooklyn at 82 Washington Ave, Le Petit Monstre offers a vibrant and imaginative culinary experience that seamlessly blends a bakery, cafe, bar, and wine bar into one eclectic destination. This spot has quickly become a beloved local gem, celebrated for its innovative approach to classic pastries and comforting cooked dishes, all presented in a warm and inviting atmosphere that encourages lingering over coffee or a leisurely lunch.

The cuisine here is a sophisticated fusion of artisan bakery craftsmanship and thoughtful, flavor-forward plant-based cooking. Their menu dazzles with standout items like the Breakfast Croissant Sandwich filled with housemade sausage, egg, and cheese, layered with garlic confit aioli and everything seasoning — a savory delight that balances flaky, buttery textures with a punch of flavorful richness. Sweet tooths will find pure bliss in offerings such as the Peaches ‘n Cream Crepe, where tender roasted peaches meet a delicate lemon crepe, maple pecans, caramel drizzle, whipped cream, and crunchy pistachios for a symphony of textures and tastes.

Le Petit Monstre’s bakery is nothing short of extraordinary, particularly for those seeking vegan or plant-based options that don’t compromise on indulgence. Croissants, kouign amann, cronuts, monkey bread, and gluten-free brownies all showcase a tender crumb and expert layering that leave even omnivores second-guessing these plant-based wonders. One devoted patron, Florian Krentzel, expressed amazement at the croissants’ flaky perfection, crediting the bakery for raising the bar on vegan baked goods through impeccable flavor and texture.

For something fresh and vibrant at lunch, the Bol de Jardin is a colorful, nourishing bowl packed with quinoa or farro, sauteed Tuscan kale, pickled red onion, roasted vegetables, creamy avocado, bright pomegranate seeds, toasted pepitas, and crumbled feta. The Artichoke Caprese sandwich layers smoky heirloom tomatoes, roasted artichokes, mozzarella, and pistachio pesto on a toasted baguette, offering a satisfying blend of creamy, crunchy, and tangy notes that perfectly complement a glass from their well-curated wine selection.

The dining atmosphere is as much a part of the experience as the food itself. Spacious and stylish, yet approachable, Le Petit Monstre fosters a vibe that’s both vibrant and cozy — perfect for catching up with friends over a morning latte, indulging in afternoon pastries, or celebrating special occasions with custom wedding cakes that are as beautiful as they are delicious. Allison Daugila’s heartfelt review of their wedding cake service highlights the team’s meticulous attention to detail and genuine care, adding a personal touch that made her big day even more unforgettable.

Customers consistently praise the warmth and attentiveness of the staff, alongside the impeccable cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas. Alexa’s enthusiastic endorsement of the vegan bakery’s quality and friendly service complements Tracy Marotta’s appreciation for the inclusive, ADA-accessible environment and well-executed catering, despite a noted delivery hurdle during a large event.

Whether you're craving a flaky, buttery croissant that melts in your mouth or a wholesome, colorful bowl bursting with fresh ingredients, Le Petit Monstre offers a remarkable culinary journey rooted in authenticity and creativity. This is a place where every bite tells a story and every visit feels like a celebration of flavor, community, and thoughtful craft.

Le Petit Monstre offers an extraordinary experience with its croissants, so much so that you’d doubt they were plant based. Having explored lots of bakeries, I can confidently say that this one excels, even with the most intricate baked goods. As a plant-based cook, I was truly impressed by the taste and texture of their breads. The kitchen and dining areas are spotlessly maintained, and the patrons are respectful, providing plenty of seating for writing an essay on a laptop or attending an e-meeting. The staff is accommodating, and friendly. However, there is room for improvement in the bathrooms, where soap is missing, and the paper towels are actually food napkins that dissolve quickly in water. Providing actual hand towels would be a welcome improvement for paying customers.

One of (if not) the best vegan bakeries in the city. This is a spot that even omnivores will love - the baked goods are top level. We had sweet pastries, coffee, and sausage, egg & cheese on croissants. Everything was heavenly, the SEC croissants with house made garlic confit alioli were especially divine. The place is large and has good vibes and all the staff were super kind! Will definitely be back!

Thank you so much for making our wedding day so extremely special!! My husband and I along with our 50 guests loved our 2 tiered strawberry banana cake with vanilla frosting. The entire thing was gone in less than 20 minutes. The designer was very thoughtful and called us to make sure the inscription was just right, and we sincerely appreciated that extra step especially these days. They also put on a wonderful topper for us at the last second which was spectacular- ours didn’t show up in the mail on time. Thanks again Le Petit! AND don’t be mistaken - I only got my wedding cake here because I truly recommend this place for all of their DELICIOUS and unique pastries and custom cakes! I have been many times and have enjoyed matcha, donuts and croissants galore….please don’t ever close!!!

Great all vegan bakery with cooked food also! Counter staff is great. Ramp to enter and ADA gender neutral restroom. As much as my husband and I find the food here delicious, when we had Le Petite Monstre cater our desserts for our wedding celebration in August 2024 (for approx 200 people), there was a huge failure related to food delivery / pick-up. My husband had stated in an email that we would pick up the desserts on the way to the event, which was confirmed via email. However, while we were en route to pick up the desserts before our party, the desserts were dropped off outside on our patio (since we were not home). Thankfully, our great neighbors were able to bring the MANY boxes to the party for us. Unsure how this miscommunication occurred and in the aftermath, they did not try to rectify the situation beyond an apology, while also not even suggesting that they should refund the delivery fee that they had charged us, until it was requested of them. :/ So all in all, great food and staff behind the counter are great, but I would be extremely diligent related to catering.

I would stick with the pastries here, its what they are really good at. The food was not great and they forgot my order AND drinks. After 20 minutes I reminded him about our drinks which he promptly made. Same with the food. Once I told him that only one dish had come out 15 minutes back he had the other one made on the fly for me. Pistachio croissant- 8/10 Koign amann- 8.5/10 Breakfast taco-6/10 Blt-5/10 didnt like this, cheese and bacon were bad Matcha with pistachio milk- 5/10 super bitter and not frothy

I really enjoy going to this little cafe whenever I get the chance! I never knew vegan food could taste so good. I’ve had every pastry and the burger is surprisingly amazing - only surprising because I’m an avid meat-eater. Anytime I get friends a treat from this place, they immediately want to go there themselves. My only gripe is they seem allergic to picking up their phone.

Had the best experience ordering a cake and two sets of mini cupcakes for my baby shower from Le Petit Monstre! Selected the chocolate ganache cake with edible gold around the rim and it was not only stunning, but absolutely delicious! The texture and flavor both decadent missing nothing, as were the red velvet and vanilla with chocolate frosting cupcakes. We had a party of about 50 people (locals and family from out of town) and got so many compliments from even the non-vegan crowd. Delivery was also very smooth, and everything arrived fresh and ready to roll for the party. Thank you, Christine and team! A side note, we went to check out the bakery in person before we ordered and were able to also enjoy their delectable croissants and pastries...everything is so good!!
